Student Experience - Summer Edition

Adaline is a Liberty student who joined us this summer to do an 8-week internship in Quito, Ecuador. She shared with us some photos and snippets of what life was like!

QUITO!! Here are some highlights from my first week in Ecuador! New foods, new friends (who now feel like best friends), and some great new experiences!

Mitad Del Mundo and La Basílica🌎⛪️ My first excursion with my program this summer took me to 2 of the coolest spots in Quito! Send me a message if you have any questions about these two awesome tourist spots 💛

Mindo & Host Homes!
Zip lining in a cloud forest is definitely one of the craziest things I’ve ever done. I’m also very thankful for the sweetest, most caring host mother 💛

My first weekend in Ecuador was a girls’ trip to Otavalo and Cotacachi with my host mom, her sobrina, and one of her friends! Julia & I saw one of the most famous artisan markets in South America and a GORGEOUS crater lake complete with a boat ride!

L A S E L V A 🦎🌳🌿🌺🪷🌎

My week in the jungle was absolutely the highlight of my time in Ecuador. Staying in a small-town hostel & doing ministry at a Christian school, while connecting with my American friends was the halfway break I needed and was filled with the Lord keeping His promises over & over. These are memories that will last a lifetime 💛

Quilotoa ⛰🗺🚣‍♀️🐎🦙

L&LI took us all to Quilotoa, a crater lake about 3 hours from Quito for a Saturday trip! I slid down a volcano, kayaked in the gorgeous lake, and rode horses back up the path with Addie! This was one of the most breathtaking views, and the pictures TRULY don’t capture half of it 🤩🤩

Rucu Pichincha⛰🦙🧗🏻‍♀️ One of my greatest physical accomplishments!! I never thought I would hike to 15,413 ft. & what better place than in Quito! I’m thankful for the lento group & the encouragers, and that my body was able to complete the summit!! What a blessing & a testament to God’s creativity!

God knew what He was doing when He placed me in Pily Andino’s home for the summer. This woman loved me as her own, cared for me when I was sick and had no words to describe my pain, talked with me about God… and clothes, and made sure I had the BEST possible experience in Quito. From her sparkly hat to her kind heart to her untouchable sass I can’t imagine my time in Quito without her 🫶🏻💛

Our last week in Quito was so full of so many great things! I was thankful for a slow Wednesday at El Refugio talking with my Cotopaxi girls & God. It was a beautiful day of reflection and ended with a banquet! Getting all dressed up with my friends was definitely a highlight & busting down on the bus ride was the best way to end our program!!
